About Ed4SD project

This research project, led by a PhD candidate in Sustainability Science at the Institute of Education, University of Lisbon, investigates a pivotal question: “How can digital science communication enhance students’ sustainability literacy to drive behavior change?” Focusing on the power of digital platforms and communication strategies, the study aims to engage students deeply in sustainability topics, inspiring a lasting motivation for sustainable actions.

In collaboration with young students aged 8 to 10 from Portugal and Myanmar, this study explores how digital, visually engaging science communication can build practical skills for sustainable practices. By examining the effects of online, interactive learning on students’ understanding and actions, the research seeks to demonstrate the impact of digital tools in fostering sustainable behaviors and empowering young minds in both countries.

Ultimately, this project aspires to reveal the potential of digital science communication as a transformative tool in sustainability education, equipping students with skills they can apply to real-world environmental challenges.
